TUCSON, Ariz. - Led by sophomore running back Ka'Deem Carey's first-team selection, the Arizona football team had seven of its members recognized among the annual Pac-12 Conference awards, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
Carey was named All-Pac-12 First-Team at the running back position. He is UA's first first-team running back since Clarence Farmer in 2001. Carey broke Trung Canidate's single-season school-record rushing mark of 1,602 yards from 1999 in the first quarter of the Arizona State game. Against Colorado on Nov. 10, he broke the Pac-12 and UA single-game rushing records with 366 yards on the ground.
Carey is the nation's leading rusher in total yardage (1,757) and yards per game (146.42). Carey's 21 touchdowns (20 rushing and one receiving) rank tied for third nationally and No. 2 in the Pac-12. He is the first Wildcat to register back-to-back 200-plus yard rushing games and is just the third to have multiple 200-yard games in his career. He has topped 100 yards rushing nine times this season alone, just a year after the Wildcats broke 100 yards as a team only five times in 12 contests in 2011. Seven of his 100-yard games have come against Pac-12 schools.
Senior Matt Scott was named All-Pac-12 Second-Team at the quarterback position. He is UA's first second-team quarterback since Willie Tuitama in 2008. A two-time Manning Award Star of the Week and the Walter Camp Player of the week on Oct. 28, he ranks second in the Pac-12 in total passing yards. Scott has completed 273-of-452 passes attempted for 3,238 yards with just 24 touchdowns. Also one of the nation's top running QBs, Scott has 485 rushing yards on 107 carries and five TDs on the ground. In the OT loss at Stanford, Scott set Arizona and Pac-12 single-game records with his 45 completions and 69 attempts.
Sophomore Austin Hill was named All-Pac-12 Second-Team at the receiver position. A Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist, he ranks second in the Pac-12 and No. 9 nationally for total receiving yards (1,189) with 73 receptions and nine touchdowns. He is averaging 16.29 yards per reception and 99.1 yards per game. Arizona's big play guy, Hill has 50 catches resulting in a first down, 29 catches for 15 yards or more and 12 catches for 25 yards or more.
Senior receiver Dan Buckner, junior linebacker Jake Fischer, senior center Kyle Quinn and sophomore safety Jared Tevis were named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. Fischer earned his second league honor after also being named honorable mention in 2010.
