TUCSON - A jury has spared a man convicted of raping and murdering a 7-year-old Tucson girl his life.
Instead of the death penalty, Kyle Alegria faces up to life in prison. His sentencing is Dec. 9.
Alegria was found guilty of killing 7-year-old Rhia Almeida in 2009.
Her body was found in an Ajo wash near Alegria's home. Alegria's attorney's said their client was mentally insane.
