Job fair in Tucson open to all local youth looking for work

TUCSON - United Way and Pima County OneStop are sponsoring a Youth Job and Career Fair.

Twenty-four employers and career pathway agencies, including Pima Community College, will be interviewing youth and providing career advice to the estimated 400 youth.

Organizers of the job fair hope to help meet the demand of youth looking for work.

In a recent news release Jonathan Rothchild, Tucson Mayor said, "Today, the unemployment rate among teens nationally stands at 24.2 percent, down from a 2010 high of 27.2 percent. For youth age 20 to 24, the numbers are better, at 13.3 percent, but still well above the national average of 7.6 percent. Summer jobs are important ways into the job market."

The event will be held Thursday, June 6th at the Sentinel Building on 320 North Commerce Park Loop.

It begins at at 3 p.m and ends at 6 p.m.

Interviews with representatives of Pima County OneStop and United Way will be available at 4 p.m.
