TUCSON - As expected, thunderstorms are set for an afternoon arrival in the Tucson metro.
According to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish, radar is indicating storms mainly south and east of Tucson as of 1 PM. The strongest activity is just entering Sahuarita & Sonoita, moving northwest at 15-20 mph.
Frequent lightning, winds up to 40 mph, and rainfall up to a half-inch is anticipated around southeastern Pima and northern Santa Cruz Counties.
Thunderstorms will continue to develop & push into the Tucson metro over the next few hours, impacting the evening commute. A few storms will be capable of gusty winds & locally heavy rainfall.
