TUCSON - Storms, then Summer's sizzle in the seven day forecast.
Enough moisture remains in place for a chance of isolated storms this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Storms should fire up in the higher terrain around lunchtime, reaching the valley floors this afternoon. Expect storms to come to an end after sunset.
Today's Monsoon Prediction Index is at a 4, meaning a moderate chance of storms producing gusty winds and blowing dust.
Monsoon moisture starts drying up as the week goes on, thanks to a large dome of high pressure building in from the east. Tomorrow looks to be the last chance of isolated storms this week, with the year's hottest temps coming by week's end. Forecast highs for Friday and Saturday in Tucson should be in the 108-110 range.
Models hint at a southeasterly flow setting up early next week, drawing in moisture & bringing back storm chances.
