THATCHER, Ariz.- Authorities said Friday the discovery of a 3-year-old girl found buried in the backyard of a Thatcher house, came after an investigation of two young boys found alone inside a Thatcher motel room in late June.
According to Arizona Department of Child Safety spokeswoman Jennifer Bowser-Richards, a probation officer doing a routine check on 23-year-old Joshua Matthew Cisneros led to the discovery of the boys on June 26.
Cisneros is the boyfriend of the boy's mother 28-year-old Anna Marie Sanchez, Bowser-Richards said.
Authorities said the 3-year-old girl had been missing since March 2012.
The discovery of the body is being treated as a homicide, Thatcher's Chief of Police Shaffen Woods said.
Both Cisneros and Sanchez are currently being jailed on unrelated charges.
