TUCSON - Several groups organized health insurance sign-up events throughout Southern Arizona on Saturday.
"All the hospitals, different organizations here in Tucson are trying to make this a city-wide initiative to try and get as many people as we can enrolled," said K Dempsey, who acts as an outreach coordinator for Northwest Medical Center.
More than 41 million people do not have health insurance nationwide.
Dempsey said that in-person workshops are useful in explaining the process for signing up for health insurance, especially for those who aren't savvy with technology.
According to Enroll America, nearly 70 percent of the uninsured don't know that financial assistance is available to help pay for their plans.
The deadline to sign up for health insurance is March 31st.
