Indoor marijuana grow operation found in upscale Northeast Tucson neighborhood

TUCSON - A SWAT situation on the far East side had neighbors on edge Wednesday evening.

It went down in a luxury housing development near Snyder and Harrison.

Inside the gated community was an indoor marijuana grow operation.

SWAT officers were called in to help serve a search warrant.

The house, located on North Sterling Springs Drive was surrounded by tactical vehicles and numerous officers from Pima Regional Swat.

The Counter Narcotics Alliance is investigating.

No word yet on how many plants and growing equipment was found inside the home, or its value.

Authorities also wouldn't comment on suspects, or arrests.

However, they will confirm, the search warrant is connected to an illegal medical marijuana business, called Shop 420.

Last Wednesday five different Shop 420 locations in Tucson and Casa Grande were raided.

Fourteen pounds of marijuana, and 25 pounds of marijuana candy were seized.

Ten people were arrested, all charged with unlawful possession and sale of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Authorities say the search warrant served Wednesday evening is part of an investigation that began more than a month ago.
