TUCSON - The Monsoon won't be taking any time off this weekend.
According to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish, remnant moisture from Hurricane Dora starts surging up the Gulf of California over the next 48 hours. This "gulf surge" will increase dew points and rain chances for southern Arizona.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday, especially south of a Gila Bend-Casa Grande-Safford line. Sunday looks to be rather loud, with scattered thunderstorms possible of all of southern Arizona.
The biggest threat from Monsoon storms this weekend will be flash flooding, especially Sunday. Ample moisture and instability may lead to rainfall amounts over one inch in a short amount of time.
