TUCSON - Hundreds of people went to see the official unveiling of the Streetcar and its $9-million maintenance facility.
Ryan Redford lives near the route and plans on riding regularly.
"It's been rough. It's been hard," Redford said. "Getting Downtown has been a challenge, but it's worth it in the long run."
State Senator Steve Farley has been advocating for the mass transit long before he was elected to office. He said it benefits all Tucsonans.
"Being able to have a vibrant downtown is key to the entire region," Farley said. "We're getting corporate headquarters moving down there and expanding."
Project Manager, Shellie Ginn, has been working on Sun Link for about 10 years.
"I'm feeling pretty good right now," she said. "This is really exciting for me, being able to actually see it happening versus planning it."
The next phase of her plan is public safety.
"We can be proactive and educate folks," Ginn said. "I think we can reduce the possibility of accidents. But there's always a chance something can happen. That's why we want to get the message out quickly."
