TUCSON, AZ - For the next couple of weeks you can recycle your tree for free.
For 14 years the city of Tucson has been collecting trees after the holidays under the TreeCycle program. There are eight locations in Pima County and they're collecting them through January 10th.
They will not collect trees from curbs or alleys and will not accept commercial tree lot overages. They will accept them at the Los Reales Landfill and Tangerine Landfill at posted landfill rates. No live trees are accepted.
Also, on January 9th at the Rillito Race Track, the city will chip all of the trees and pass out the mulch to anyone who wants some. Just make sure you bring your own container.
The following TreeCycle sites are open during daylight hours, seven days a week unless noted:
1. Oro Valley lot, "Naranja Town site," 660 W. Naranja, 229-5070
2. Rillito Race Track, east parking lot (follow signs)
3. Udall Park, south of Little League ball fields (follow signs)
4. Golf Links Sports Park, northwest of Craycroft Rd. and Golf Links Rd.
5. Rodeo Grounds, north of Irvington Rd. by east parking lot entrance
6. Davis-Monthan AFB, recycling center (base access required)
7. Los Reales Landfill (follow Treecycle signs)
8. Marana Airport, west of entrance (follow signs)
