TUCSON - Well above average temperatures will give way to thunderstorms this weekend.
The Old Pueblo wrapped up the warmest work week of the year so far with with yet another scorcher. TIA climbed to 108 this afternoon after spending much of the week at or above 105. So far 108 is the warmest temperature of the year reported at the airport. However, the record for June 22 is 114 set back in 1988 so we were still well off of any records and it looks like a slight cool down is in store by the end of the weekend as we see an increase in moisture to Southern Arizona.
Enough moisture moves in over the weekend to bring a chance of isolated storms area wide starting Saturday. The best chance for Monsoon storms will be Sunday and Monday for the Tucson metro area. Enough moisture will hang around the region to see isolated storm chances last into the middle portion of next week.
