Hospital tests Japanese healing art against skin disorder

Cleveland's University Hospitals is testing an ancient technique to see if it may help people suffering from Psoriasis.

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that incorporates elements of other alternative healing practices.

"It's not a cure but it's a way to manage stress because that's what causes breakouts when you get really stressed out," says psoriasis patient Emily Arkutik.

She learned the method from an expert and practices it at least twice a week.

She claims it works.

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to patient and claims to enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy.
