PEORIA, Ariz. - Police say a man has died and his friend is facing a murder charge after their horseplay at a Peoria sports bar got a little too rough.
Authorities say 39-year-old Matthew Pape has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of a 45-year-old man from Surprise.
Enoch Lucero, owner of Enoch's Sports Lounge, says the two men were joking Friday around a cell phone when one of them fell and hit his head during a scuffle.
Police say Pape put the other man in a hold that caused him to pass out.
Lucero says the two men were best friends and regulars at the bar.
The victim has not been identified.
It was unclear if Pape had an attorney.
