SAHUARITA - Homeowners in Sahuarita are talking about their American dream, and how it's turning into a nightmare.
Some residents in the Rancho Sahuarita neighborhood say their homes have cracked walls, poor drainage, and uneven floors.
10 year old Alyssa Jackson says she was sitting on the stairs drinking some water when a piece of the ceiling fell on her.
That was 2 1/2 years ago, and the family says the problems have only gotten worse.
J-R Jackson says the home builder is Pulte homes. He says they have fixed the problems, but it's only been a band aid because the problems are coming back.
"They've had mapping engineers, and soil engineers, out here up until 3 months ago. I was assuming after that test they would be out here to fix it."
Jackson says Pulte hasn't returned, and told him they weren't coming back.
Jackson says he was told by the builder the problems came from the ground being over saturated with water.
Across the street, another neighbor says she was told the same thing. They moved in a year ago.
They hired their own engineer.
Pensa Dominguez says, "He said that it seems to be a problem with the soils compaction it wasn't compacted right when it was built."
The residents say, all they want is for the builder to fix their homes so they can enjoy them.
Pulte Homes wouldn't talk to News 4 on camera they did send a two page e-mail.
In it, Pulte says the problems are caused by after market landscape alterations resulting in improper drainage. They also say these few complaints do not indicate a systematic issue.
Pulte Homes points to an inspection done by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors which could not determine the extent of the contractors responsibility and no citation was issued against Pulte homes.
However, there is a hearing scheduled.
