TUCSON - Fun for the whole family awaits as soon as you step foot on the Signal Hill Trail.
For starters, these hills have a history lesson: petroglyphs. Hiker Ed Hansen said, "They're markings that are over 800 years old by the early people who lived here".
For all things living, plants & animals, the interpretive signage serves as the trail's teacher. "We were so excited cause we got to see the saguaro blossoms and you don't get to see those very often. Especially on the big plants that are so old", said one hiker. Out here, the desert's in full bloom, with prickly pear cacti popping radiant flowers everywhere.
Even though its a short hike, a half-mile terraced trail, be aware that rattlesnakes call this area home. That said, the trail up to Signal Hill is family-friendly: not too tough & lots to take in.
