Tucson Police looking for driver in deadly hit-and-run

TUCSON - A woman has died due to her injuries in a pedestrian hit and run accident Wednesday night.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Greasewood Rd. and West Speedway Blvd.

The victim is identified as 24-year-old Antonia Calamia. Calamia was taken to a hospital where she died, shortly after her arrival.

The vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene. The vehicle is described as a red or burgundy colored Chevrolet or GM Pickup and will possibly have a broken passenger side headlight and damage to the front grill. The suspect was last seen making an eastbound turn onto Speedway Blvd.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit are investigating. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.

Tucson has seen 42 road-related fatalities so far in 2013. Of those, 18 were pedestrians, 3 were riding bicycles and 5 were on motorcycles.
