High fire danger, dry storms outside of metro today

TUCSON - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 11 AM until 7 PM today. This includes the eastern half of Cochise County.

A low pressure trough kicks winds up to 20 MPH in Tucson this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Isolated storms can't be ruled out for western Pima County and mountaintops, with little rainfall expected. Because storms will be of the dry variety, lightning strikes have the potential to spark further wildfires.

Expect partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80's today across Metro Tucson.

The isolated thunder threat shifts to the mountains this weekend, while valley floors see the winds ease up. High temps range from the upper 80's Saturday to the mid 90's on Memorial Day.

Triple digit temps look to return the middle of next week, with 100's in the forecast as early as Wednesday.
