TUCSON - A sudden loss rocks the Tucson Police Department as an unexpected heart attack claims the life of an officer.

Forty three year old Henry Fung, a 6-year veteran of TPD died Tuesday. He leaves behind a wife, a 5-month-old son and three step-daughters.

It's not only a tragic and sad story, but it's also a strange one considering how young he was and how physically fit he was being an officer. Adding to the strangeness, on Monday Fung volunteered to be shot by a taser as part of his training. TPD said doctors told them the taser had nothing to do with his death.

But right now the family's really not thinking about that. They're only thinking about this massive loss; one they said came as a huge shock because of both when and where it happened.

Henry's brother John Fung said, "He was visiting my mother [in the hospital] and that's when he collapsed, in the room and my mother had to see that he was being coded and they had to work on him in front of her and she's 78 years old. It was very hard for her to see that."

Collapsed while visiting his mother in the hospital, something his brother said was very typical of Henry, always thinking of others. Its that caring trait that helped push him to become a police officer; a job his brother said he loved.

John said, "He loved his work and he was really passionate about his work. He had great relationships with all the guys and gals on the force and serving the public. He just loved his job."

It was a love that was only topped by the love for his family.

John said, "He loved his wife dearly, the three girls and of course Brandon. It's just so sad to see little Brandon growing up without a father."

John said they wouldn't have been able to get through the loss without the love and support from the entire Tucson Police Department who rallied around the family to help out in every way.
