TUCSON - A head-on crash sent three people to the hospital Friday evening.

Tucson Fire responded to the area of 7500 East Speedway. In fact, the crash happened almost directly in front of Tucson Fire Station 16.

Witnesses told emergency crews a vehicle crossed the median and slammed into a vehicle going the opposite way. The driver of one of the vehicles had her legs pinned under the dashboard and crews needed to use the "Jaws of Life" to get her out.

Two people in the east bound vehicle, a male and female, also sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

A third vehicle was also involved in the collision but no one from that vehicle was sent to the hospital after being assessed on scene.
