Head-on collision leaves one dead, one critical

TUCSON- A head-on collision early Saturday morning left one person dead and another in critical condition.

Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Courtney Rodriguez says 39-year-old Andrew Gaines died as a result of the collision at 7373 E. Valencia Road just after midnight.

The 61-year-old driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

A driver of a third vehicle involved was not injured.

Rodriguez says speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
