TUCSON - Emergency crews are on the scene of a head-on collision involving 2 vehicles, on Alvernon Way south of Benson Hwy.

Crews have shut down all southbound traffic on Alvernon Way.

6 people have been transported to local hospitals, 4 of them have serious injuries.

Authorities say a van and SUV collided.

The driver of the SUV was reportedly traveling in the wrong lane, when the two vehicles collided.

One of the patients transported was trapped in the van, but was rescued by crews on scene.
