TUCSON - Tucson Fire's hazmat crews are responding to a discovery of "improperly" stored chemicals at a motel near Oracle and Elm.
The incident is happening Friday morning at the Hacienda Motel on 1742 N. Oracle.
Residents of the extended stay motel reported a foul odor coming from a room. The manager called 911 after checking the room and finding jars of chemicals inside.
Residents were evacuated as hazmat teams handled the chemicals. Paramedics were standing by as a precaution, News 4 reporter Lupita Murillo said.
The man in the room had a boy with him, Murillo reported. That man has been arrested but charges were not disclosed.
Tucson Police are working on obtaining a search warrant for the room.
Officials are avoiding calling the chemicals a meth lab pending further analysis.
