TUCSON - The payoff for dealing with the gusty winds over the next few days will be a nice drop in the temperatures.
Gusty winds return to southern Arizona as soon as tomorrow, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. Daytime highs remain in the mid 80s Sunday but as a system moves to our north winds will gust between 30-35mph to wrap up the weekend.
This system really digs into the western states both Monday and Tuesday further increasing the wind speeds. Tucson should see gusts between 35-40mph with gusts east of the metro approaching 45mph.
Blowing dust and strong cross winds will lead to difficult driving conditions early in the work week. With little moisture to work with we could see a Red Flag Warning go into effect on both Monday and Tuesday for a high fire danger.
Cooler temperatures will also filter in as this system makes its exit midweek. Check out the 70s back in your True View 4 extended forecast here. For a more in depth look at the upcoming wind event click on John Patrick's Weather Blog.
