Gusty winds, high fire danger this morning

TUCSON - The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for eastern Pima & Santa Cruz Counties from 7 AM until 3 PM today. This includes Metro Tucson and Nogales.

In addition, most of southern Arizona is under a Red Flag Warning from 8 AM until 3 PM today due to the high fire danger.

Easterly winds may gust as high as 40 MPH this morning, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Localized areas of blowing dust are possible for the morning commute along I-10 and I-19. Winds begin to ease up some after the noon hour, with 20 MPH gusts possible overnight.

High temps today reach the upper 80's, running 2-4° below average for mid May.

Temperatures will be nearing triple digit territory heading into the weekend. Upper 90's are on tap as early as Friday, with Tucson topping out at 99° Saturday.
