TUCSON - It was the third straight day with over 30mph wind gusts for the Old Pueblo.
The strong gusty winds hit southern Arizona once again prompting wind advisories and red flag warnings until 11pm tonight, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. As you head out on the roads for your long holiday weekend watch for blowing dust and strong cross winds. We have another windy day on tap for Saturday with gusts between 35 and 45mph possible. Also, another red flag warning for high fire danger is in effect Saturday for Graham, Greenlee and Cochise counties. The winds die down for Sunday as a cold front makes its exit.
The same system that's bringing the gusty winds is also expected to bring us some below average temperatures. Weekend highs should hover in the mid to upper 80's for the Tucson metro area, highs we haven't seen since early May.
High pressure builds in for Memorial Day and temperatures start to rebound back into the mid 90's to wrap up the long holiday weekend. Highs slowly but surely climb throughout the week as triple digits return by Thursday.
