TUCSON - Tucson grandparents, suffering serious medical setbacks, win this month's Kristi's Kids "Lifesaver" pool fence giveaway.
Kathy and Mike Beach had to have their daughter move in, with her three children, ages 2, 5 and 8. With all of their medical bills, they just haven't been able to afford a pool fence. Kathy Beach tells Kristi's Kids, "it's just been horrible. I mean it's my worst nightmare."
Their daughter, Karen Birchard, has been worried too and tells Kristi's Kids she's actually "terrified they don't know they're not really good swimmers."
Our partner in this pool fence endeavor, Matt Baranowski, put up a mesh fence worth approximately $1,400. Totally free. His company, Pool Guard of Tucson, has been committed to water safety and drowning prevention since the start of our "Lifesaver" campaign 4 years ago.
About the home, Matt said, "as soon as I got here and saw these girls, these girls' faces, it was pretty much all over for me being a father of two daughters. There's 3 very good reasons right there."
