Good Samaritan is shot while trying to help a woman

PHOENIX (AP) - A Good Samaritan who came to the aid of a woman being attacked in Phoenix has been shot in the neck by the assailant.

Phoenix police say that when officers arrived to the scene, they found the woman and the man who came to her aid suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital.

Officers learned that the 21-year-old woman had been walking in the area when a male suspect in his 20s came up to her, pulled a gun and demanded her money and cell phone.

The woman refused and a struggle ensued. That's when the man shot her.

As that was going on, a 32-year-old bicyclist saw the woman in distress and tried to help her. The suspect then shot him.

Police are still looking for the suspect, who fled without any stolen goods.
