GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A Glendale police officer is recovering from a gunshot wound after authorities say officers exchanged gunfire with a suspect later killed by police.
Officials say the officer, whose name has not been released, was shot Thursday night in Glendale. He is expected to survive.
According to police, an employee at a Glendale convenience store called 911 to report someone acting suspiciously in the store. Police say when officers arrived, and the suspect took off running.
Authorities say the suspect ran through yards and threatened residents with a gun until he exchanged gunfire with police.
Police say the suspect was shot and later died at a hospital. His name has not been released.
Officials say a police K-9 also was shot and later died.
