PHOENIX (AP) - A Glendale family of six had to be hospitalized Friday night after the fire department said the family was overcome by carbon monoxide fumes.
Investigators said the family was using a barbecue grill inside their home.
Glendale Fire Department spokesman Daniel Valenzuela said firefighters were called to the home near 59th and Olive avenues around 10:15 p.m. Friday night because a child was ill.
Crews said the family was suffering from symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. Some were going in and out of consciousness.
Valenzuela said detectors showed high levels of the toxic fumes in the home where the family was cooking with a charcoal grill.
The family returned home Saturday afternoon.
