TUCSON - The Girl Scouts are famous for Do-Si-Dos, Samoas and Thin Mints. Troop 2969 is Paying it Forward using some of the money from cookie sales to help others.
Emma Small is one of them.
"Our Gift of Caring project is making care packages for the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind."
Gift of Caring is how these Scouts give back to the community.
"No matter what someone is going through or how they live," says Patricia Small, Emma's mom, "that we can be a friend to them all."
Troop 2969 befriended the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind (ASDB)
"Some of them might live far from their home and it's hard for them to get stuff to play with," explains Emma.
To solve that, Emma's troop bought baskets of stuff and delivered them to ASDB, where they got to meet students and tour the dorms.
"So having the girls scouts come and include the girls regardless of any kind of disability is very important," explains Sarah Allen with ASDB. "It gives our girls a sense of acceptance."
