Gilbert man arrested for computer tampering after sending nude photos

SAN TAN VALLEY - A Gilbert man has been arrested on charges of computer tampering.

On Friday, April 25th, a 19-year old woman, from San Tan Valley, reported to Pinal County Sheriff's Deputies that her ex-boyfriend, 21-year old Jay Chapa, had created a fake "Twitter" account under her name which had nude photos of her posted on the account. The Twitter account information was then sent out to over 80 of her friends. The victim reported she never gave permission to Chapa to create the account and she had repeatedly asked him to delete the account and its contents. Chapa told her that he did it to hurt her because she refused to continue to date him.

On May 14th, PCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau detectives contacted Chapa and arrested him. Chapa admitted creating the account and has apologized for doing so. He was booked for 10 felony counts of Computer Tampering.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, "The victim had allowed Chapa to take the photographs of her while the two were dating. Chapa used the photos after their relationship ended in an unlawful manner and in an attempt to cause the victim pain and embarrassment. While he may have thought it was a good idea at the time, he now realizes he is facing ten felony offenses because of his stupid and immature actions."
