TUCSON - Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' former AP History teacher, Dr. John Hosmer at University High School, said that after all these years, Gabby continues to be a true inspiration.

He said that she "always spoke eloquently; she could speak and never make a mistake."

Dr. Hosmer said Giffords' decision to step down has been difficult for everyone to accept, but said everyone still has faith in her.

Giffords' Junior High teacher Chris Voutsas at Emily Gray said he always knew she was destined for great things, and is hoping she will continue to inspire Tucson and the rest of the country in years to come.

"I'm very confident that she's not done making her mark, we may not know what that's going to be, but this is a very special lady," Voutsas said.
