TUCSON - A number of back to school events happening today around Tucson:

At 8am the Ward 4 Back to School Bash will be held at the Clements Recreation Center located at 8155 E. Poinciana Drive. Activities will kick off with a pancake breakfast.

There will be free school supplies for all school-aged children including backpacks (one per child) courtesy of Cox Communications. The Clements Center Pool will be open for free swimming from noon to 4pm.

There will also be a raffle prize drawing from 8 -11am with a grand prize drawing at 11:30am. Winner must be present to win. From 10am until noon GAP Ministries will hold it's 7th Annual Backpack-2-School Event to benefit families in Amphitheater and Flowing Wells School Districts.

This morning's event is at Flowing Wells Junior High, 4545 North La Cholla Blvd. Schools invited are Centennial, Walter Douglas, Homer Davis and Laguna. Teachers will check in students from their schools, but the entire family is welcome to attend the carnival.

And beginning at 9am, teachers get their due. The Zanes Law school supply giveaway will provide 100 local school teachers with what they need to get their school year started.

The school supply giveaway will be Saturday, August 4, from 9am to 11am, at 3501 E. Speedway Blvd.
