TUCSON- After several cloudy nights in Southern AZ tonight will be a good night to catch the last of the Geminid Meteor Shower. The best time to view is from 10pm and 3am with the peak at 2-3am.
Chief Meteorologist Rob Guarino says you'll see a few good fireballs in the sky and and at times could see up to 100-130 meteors per hour. The reason we get the fireballs to show up is as the streaks of ice & rock past close to the sun they melt and let off a glow.
Don't worry if they look big in the sky the average meteor is the size of a grain of sand with a few the size of a pebble. The moon will be bright tonight but we'll still get a decent view.
