FORT HUACHUCA - A Fort Huachuca soldier from Tennessee died Sunday after a single-vehicle accident on Highway 92 in Sierra Vista.
Sgt. Jacob M. Honeycutt, 22, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, died March 4 after the one-vehicle accident. He was training to become a Gray Eagle Unmanned Aerial System Operator. He joined the Army on July 31, 2007, according to a news release from Fort Huachuca authorities. He is survived by his parents.
"The 213th Aviation Regiment family of 625 Cadre and 600 students along with the entire Fort Huachuca and Sierra Vista community mourns the loss of one of its finest today," said Lt. Col Vic Hamilton, commander of the 213th Avn. Regt.
"Our prayers and heartfelt sympathy is extended to the family of Sgt. Honeycutt and the Battalion stands ready to assist his family through the healing process," he added. "Jacob was an outstanding human being, non-commissioned officer, and selfless servant of his country. He will forever be missed but never forgotten."
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Main Post Chapel at Fort Huachuca.
The exact cause of Sgt. Honeycutt's death is under investigation.
