TUCSON - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties. This is in effect starting at 12 PM today & expiring tonight at 7 PM. Low relative humidity values and gusty winds will create an extreme fire danger.
Because of this, News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish has set the Wildfire Index at a 10, which is the highest on our scale. Winds near the Monument Fire will be gusting to 30 mph out of the west-southwest this afternoon. These winds will carry smoke from the fire into Tombstone, Bisbee, Douglas and Pearce.
Daytime highs Friday in Cochise County won't help much either, with upper 90's expected.
Mother Nature's relentless winds don't look to subside anytime soon. Another Pacific cold front will pass through the Great Basin this weekend, bringing wind gusts to 50 MPH by Sunday.
