KVOA.com wants to encourage as many people to share their ideas and discuss issues with the community as a whole. We want to help foster the discussion of current events, sports, politics and weather in the community. In doing so we want to provide a rich and vibrant commenting widget to make that possible.

Comment Rules

1. No profanity, comments will be removed immediately and bans may be issued. This includes letters followed by dashes and stars.

2. Do not advocate violence. If your comment advocates violence against anyone for any reason it could be subject for removal and a ban possibly issued.

3. Stay on-topic. If the article is about a specific topic, try and stay on that topic. We understand conversations meander, but repeated off-topic remarks will result in removal and a possible ban.

4. Be succinct. While there is no specific word limit, a long rambling essay, meandering from topic to topic, taxes the patience of readers and editors. Ranting on and on will not be tolerated.

4. Be a good citizen of the internet. Do not troll. Do not post a comment in all-caps. Treat others with respect. A few things we won't tolerate: personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters followed by dashes), commercial promotion, impersonations, incoherence and SHOUTING.

5. No racism. Racist posts will be removed, and bans can be issued.

6. Do not spam. Spamming of any kind will result in comment removal and possibly a ban.

Who can comment?

Anyone, but they must register first. When you register KVOA.com will remember your account for that computer you registered on, and every computer you log in to in the future.

What is comment karma?

Comment karma is the communities way of providing feedback on specific comments. If a comment is ranked up by enough users it will be displayed in a more prominent manner. Likewise, if a comment is ranked down enough times it will fade and eventually almost disappear. Only registered users are allowed to modify the karma of comments, and each user can only rate each comment once.

Anyone can report a comment as inappropriate by clicking on the ! icon in the top right of the comment text.

Commenting Avatars

KVOA.com currently supports Gravatar avatars which are associate based on your e-mail address provided. If you provide your Gravatar e-mail address in the comment, it will associate your G-rated gravatar with your comment. Visit http://www.gravatar.com to find more information about creating a Gravatar account.

Comment moderation

Comments are rarely removed because of their content or message, even negative comments about our station and reporters will be left on the site. Don't worry, we can take it. If the comment violates the rules it may be subject for removal and your account subject for a ban.

Karma Abuse

If any user is caught abusing the karma system by creating multiple accounts to repeatedly downrate comments all of the accounts involved will be banned.
