TUCSON - Horses are becoming a great way to encourage literacy in kids.
The Black Stallion Literacy Foundation Project helps elementary school kids learn and grow in their reading by starting them on the books about the relationship between kids and horses, and then allows them to meet horses and apply what they have learned.
Patti Lopez with the Foundation says the horses seem to love it too.
"And now they're coming to learn to care for horses and to read to the horses and if you notice the horses are listening," Lopez said.
Lopez says they are always in need of sponsors and fundraising. For more information, you can go to their website at http://www.bslf-online.org/
