TUCSON - All Lucille Klee had to remember from her 1956 Olympic experience are memories.
Imagine her thrill when the pairs figure skater recently stumbled upon vintage footage of herself on Youtube, 54 years later.
"It was crazy," says Klee. I said to my husband, you're not going to believe this! Look at this!"
Klee soon discovered the footage was put on YouTube.com in December by a man from Wales. "He secured the footage from Ebay It came from an estate sale."
The Colorado native who now winters in Green Valley placed 7th in the '56 games. Her pairs partner has since passed away. "We pretty much just wanted to do our very best. Which we did."
As luck would have it, Klee says the two qualified for the Olympics when a different pair dropped out after the 1955 world championships.
They went on to finish second at nationals. "That's why we went to the Olympics in '56 because we were at the right place at the right time."
Klee went on to teach both skating and elementary school. The avid golfer is also a Special Olympics volunteer and a great grandmother.
