TUCSON - A former beauty queen and former University of Arizona law student fired her attorney this morning at her sentencing in the kidnapping and torture of an ex-boyfriend.

Kumari Fulbright pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit kidnapping this past December. She faces up to two years in prison on the assault charge.

Three other men are charged in the crime along with Fulbright. One of them, Larry Hammond, also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. Today he was given two years probation.

The judge did not sentence Fulbright and instead scheduled a hearing for next Monday on the attorney issue.
