PHOENIX (AP) - Temperatures in the Phoenix metro area and western Arizona aren't expected to drop this week.

The National Weather Service has extended an excessive heat warning into Friday evening.

Afternoon high temperatures will be at or above 110 degrees, approaching record levels. Overnight temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s.

Forecasters are advising people in areas including Kingman, Phoenix, Yuma, Lake Havasu City, Gila Bend and Parker to stay indoors, drink plenty of water and wear loose, light clothing.

They say prolonged exposure to temperatures of at least 110 degrees can lead to heat stress or heat stroke.
