It was a must-have item for any Wildcat football fan. People from all across the country, hoping to snag a piece of U of A memorabilia at a bargain price from Tuesday's surplus auction.
The university holds these auctions every two weeks, they have everything from bicycles, to desk chairs and cargo vans. However the most unique draw Tuesday was a dune buggy in the shape of a U of A football helmet. The Athletic Department used it during football games and tailgates.
People bid in person and online, but in the end a local collector won the bidding war. He walked away with a unique piece of Wildcat pride for $5,100.
All of the money generated from selling the auction items goes right back to the university departments that donated them.
