TUCSON - The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of southern Arizona until 5 PM today. This includes central and eastern Pima, southeast Pinal, Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties.
Cities under this Flash Flood Watch include the Tucson metro area, Oracle, Nogales, Sierra Vista, Douglas, Benson, Willcox, Tombstone & Sells.
Ample moisture interacting with a low pressure center over Sonora develops widespread thunderstorms after daybreak, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Flash flooding will be possible during the morning and afternoon hours, with places seeing an additional 0.50-1.00" rainfall. A few isolated locations may see up to 2" rain by this evening.
A Flash Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for widespread flash flooding to occur in a short amount of time. If flooding is observed, act quickly. Turn around and find a different route if roadways are flooded.
