FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a flash flood watch for most of northern Arizona through Tuesday night.
The flash flood watch covers all of Yavapai County as well as the Coconino plateau, the western and eastern Mogollon (MUH'-ghi-ohn) Rim, Grand Canyon National Park and Oak Creek and Sycamore Canyons until 10 p.m.
Forecasters say slow moving thunderstorms are expected to produce locally heavy rain across much of northwest Arizona through Tuesday evening.
The storms may be capable of producing rainfall accumulations exceeding one inch per hour. Areas in the flash flood watch include Havasu Creek and the Schultz Creek burn area.
