PRESCOTT, AZ - Firefighters battling wildfires across the nation are pausing to remember the 19 members of an elite crew who died in Arizona.
Jim Whittington, spokesman for Southwest Incident Command Team, says firefighters in Arizona and across the U.S. are observing moments of silence to remember the Granite Mountain Hotshots.
Whittington says the vehicles of the 19 men will be towed out of the area Wednesday, and crews working the blaze will stop to watch from the roadside and reflect on the dangers they face.
Nearly 600 people are assigned to the Yarnell Fire. Whittington says 65 to 70 percent of them are firefighters "on the ground."
He also says he expects containment on the 13-square-mile blaze to increase Wednesday, as long as no thunderstorms hit the area. Containment is at 8 percent.
