KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A lightning-started fire burning in the Hualapai Mountains southeast of Kingman is layering central Mohave County communities with haze.
The Dean Peak fire started Saturday afternoon and is burning in brush and trees in an uninhabited area with rugged terrain. It had burned 200 acres as of late Sunday.
Fire officials say a downdraft winds has been pushing smoke into the surrounding communities.
Air tankers that were assigned earlier to the fire have been reassigned, and a ground crew was pulled off the mountain for safety reasons.
