Fire near Sierra Vista 98 percent contained

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - Fire crews have the Monument Fire just outside Sierra Vista now 98 percent contained.

The blaze has burned 30,526 acres or 47 square miles since it began on June 12.

The cause of the fire still is under investigation.

Crews say fire line rehabilitation is nearly complete with the fire perimeter continually patrolled for possible hot spots.

Chipping of the cut trees in Coronado National Memorial and in Carr Canyon continues through the holiday weekend.
