Fire crews gain 55 percent containment on Deer Head Fire

TUCSON- Fire crews gained 55 percent containment on the Deer Head Fire burning in the Rincon Mountains.

The wildfire slightly grew Saturday to 1,097 acres because the eastern flank is still active.

Today crews will rehabilitate trails and fire lines that were already charred from the blaze. Firefighters are also working to keep the blaze away from the historic Manning Camp and direct it east of Heartbreak Ridge.

The lighting-sparked fire started July 24th.
