TUCSON - A fire has scorched at least 250 acres in the Empire Mountains. Sonoita/Elgin Fire officials tell News4 the fire started around 3:30 Saturday afternoon off of Highway 83 near Sonoita.

It started on private property and spread to federal land. More than a dozen agencies are on scene fighting the fire.

Five houses have been evacuated, but currently there is no immediate threat to homes.

Fire officials say they believe it to be human caused but it's under investigation. Stay with News4 for updates on the fire.
